Kiva and Happy New Year!

As a brief departure from my usual babble about television, rockstars, and bands, I have decided to write about an organization I heard about this morning (on television!) called Kiva. Kiva is a not-for-profit organization that arranges micro-loans for small businesses in developing countries. The way it works is that you go to their web site (www.kiva.org) and look at profiles of people in the developing world who are looking for small business loans. You can choose a person/business and donate as little as $25.00 toward their total loan (the total loan amount is usually about $1000). Later on they will post journal entries describing what is going on with their business, and eventually you are supposed to get paid back. I find it interesting in that it seems "hands on" and it is also a little voyeuristic. There is a New York Times article about Kiva here: New York Times Article about KIVA

Anyways, Happy New Year everyone. See you in 2007!

Best Songs of the Year & Merry Christmas!!!

NME has listed their "Top 50 songs of 2006". You can find the list at this link: Stereogum Post of NME Top 50 songs and here's the top ten:

10 Yeah Yeah Yeahs – "Cheated Hearts"
09 The View – "Wasted Little DJ's"
08 The Horrors – "Sheena Is A Parasite"
07 Amy Whinehouse – "Rehab"
06 CSS – "Let's Make Love and Listen To Death From Above"
05 Gnarls Barkley – "Crazy"
04 Muse – "Supermassive Black Hole"
03 The Gossip – "Standing In The Way Of Control"
02 Peter Bjorn and John ft. Victoria Bergsmen – "Young Folks"
01 Hot Chip – "Over and Over"

I have to admit that I have never heard of Hot Chip, nor do I think it would be possible for me to like a band called Hot Chip. I did try to download a bunch of the songs on the list to see if I could find some new bands to like.

Rolling Stone published a top 100 list which is also pretty good but includes way too much cheesey stuff - Chamillionaire is in the top 10.

They also have an interview with Sufjan Stevens (Sufjan Stevens article in Rolling Stone) who has released a 5 EP Christmas album recently. I love Sufjan Stevens. I think Illinois was one of my favourite albums of 2006...even though it was released in 2005.

On that note, Merry Christmas everyone!

P.S. Has everyone by now seen the SNL/Justin Timberlake "Dick in a Box" sketch?

You can find the uncensored version here for now: Justin Timberlake on SNL
Too funny!

Augusten Burroughs - Dry

I just bought the memoir "Dry" by Augusten Burroughs and I am loving it. This is the follow up to Running With Scissors, which I have mentioned before. The story begins with Augusten as a 24 year old Advertising guy with a serious alcohol problem:

"When I was thirteen, my crazy mother gave me away to her lunatic psychiatrist, who adopted me. I then lived a life of squalor, pedophiles, no school and free pills. When I finally escaped, I presented myself to advertising agencies as a self-educated, slightly eccentric youth, filled with passion, bursting with ideas. I left out the fact that I didn't know how to spell or that I had been giving blow jobs since I was thirteen."

(You can read an excerpt on amazon.com here: http://www.amazon.com/Dry-A-Memoir-Augusten-Burroughs/dp/0312423799 )

I was laughing out loud on the streetcar this morning reading this and really recommend it.

Hey, I think that this is my first non-television related post in ages!

Party of Five

As much as I would like this not to be a post in my blog, I have to comment on my current tv obsession: my new Party of Five dvds. While I'm willing to admit that Beverly Hills 90210-Season 1 was a little tedious, I have to say that I am...obsessed?....with this tv series.

In other tv/dvd news, I thought my next obsession would be Northern Exposure, but I just discovered that they are replaying that series on omni tv at about 1am. Perfect for insomniac me. Maybe I will try 24 instead? The Sopranos? Lost?

Since the high point of my social life for the past week has involved me going to Ikea on Friday night, I don't have much else to report.

Britney Spears - Ouch!

A lot has been said about Britney Spears in the tabloids lately... Apparently she has been on a bender with Paris Hilton, sleeping in cars, smoking, clubbing, flashing her naughty bits to the paparazzi, etc. etc. Now I'm the last person to moralize about bad behaviour, but someone should really help her out with her wardrobe, or at least get her to put on a bra and a clean wife-beater. Scary.
In not at all related news, I heard Neko Case on Definitely Not the Opera on Saturday and was pretty impressed.

Harmony Korine - Mister Lonely

One of my favourite characters is director/writer Harmony Korine. He wrote the film Kids back when he was about 18 years old, and wrote and directed Gummo shortly after. His next film project is called Mister Lonely. The story, they say, is of "a young American man lost in Paris. He scratches out a living as a Michael Jackson look-alike, dancing on the streets, public parks, tourist spots and trade shows. Different from everyone else - he feels as if he is floating between two worlds. During a car show Michael Jackson meets Marilyn Monroe. Haunted by her angelic beauty he follows her to a commune in the Highlands, joining her husband Charlie Chaplin and her daughter Shirley Temple. A place where everyone is famous and no-one gets old. Here, The Pope, The Queen of England, Madonna, James Dean and other impersonators build a stage in the hope that the world will visit and watch them perform. Nuns fall out of airplanes and children ride pigs. Everything is beautiful. Until the world shifts, and reality intrudes on their utopian dream." (from harmony-korine.com)

Korine: I have a novel coming out called, "A Crackup at the Race Riots." It's about a race war, and it happens in Florida, and the Jewish people sit in trees, and the black people - the blacks are run by M.C. Hammer and the whites are run by Vanilla Ice. It takes place in Florida.

Dead Like Me

On Sunday Tyler and I rented Season 1 of Dead Like Me and ended up watching all 14 episodes of Season 1, and part of Season 2 by Tuesday night. There are only two seasons, so I'm not sure what we are going to do with all of our spare time when we're finished. I had heard good things about this show before, but never really got into it. I think the thing is that you have to watch the episodes chronologically to really understand the point and like the characters. Once you get into it it's really funny, and thoughtful, and good.

Finally saw Borat this weekend. I loved it, of course, I nearly died laughing, I swear.

I bought the book Running With Scissors on Monday night and I am about 100 pages into that. It's much more revealing than the movie. He gets way more into his relationship with the 33 year old schizophrenic man (when he was 13), and the dynamics of the Finch family are more complex than they appeared in the movie. That being said, I would recommend both the book and the movie.

Beverly Hills 90210

I started watching my new Beverly Hills 90210 dvd this week and have a few observations. First of all, the first few episodes were a little lame. The writers were trying to work the "fish out of water" angle with Brenda and Brandon. The problem was that they didn't want them to be total misfits, or for the Beverly Hills natives to be complete aliens, so the premise was pretty weak. If I am remembering things properly, the second half of season 1 is when the writer's decided to "tackle issues" such as safe sex and HIV. I think the show really hits it's stride in later seasons when they abandoned this entirely and just went full-tilt soap opera.

A quick note about 90210 Season 1 fashion: I can handle the mullets, the giant eyebrows, the humungous t-shirts, lycra-spandex outfits, and the 16-inch-long-zipper jeans...but I can not handle the 4 or 5 inches of scrunched down socks that every girl character seemed to have to wear at some point, no matter what they were wearing. Jeans - check. Spandex bike shorts and matching spandex top - check. Short cotton dress?? Come on!! I spent about 20 minutes on the net looking for a picture of this look, but have discovered that all photographic evidence has been destroyed. The picture above gives you an idea of the jeans and t-shirts to which I refer - apparently there was a sale!

I finally saw Running With Scissors. In spite of the bad reviews, I actually thought it was pretty good. The story was interesting, I liked the main character (Augusten Burroughs) a lot, and Annette Bening was amazing as the crazy mom. Now I want to read the book, which is on sale at amazon right now for $5.49. Unfortunately, I am too poor to buy things these days...probably because I keep spending all my money on lame tv show dvds....

A Suburbo-tastic Adventure

I took the Go Train to Pickering this weekend to visit my friend Erin's new home and sample the local culture.
First of all, the Go Train I was on was delayed by about 20 minutes and the platform at Union was packed with little kids. I thought it was odd, I had never noticed that many kids on the Go Train before, until I realized that there had been a Wiggles concert at the Skydome. Erin informs me that the Wiggles have outsold practically every other major Australian musical act combined. It was madness! (I find the Wiggles really creepy and am always fascinated by this phenomenon)
We stopped off at her place for a couple of glasses of wine and then headed out to the Whitby Megaplex to see Marie Antoinette . The theatre was insanely busy. I have never seen anything like that in my life - literally hordes of people trying to buy tickets. I enjoyed the film. I guess the main criticism is that it is style over substance, but that's what I liked about it. Kirsten Dunst was pretty good, and I liked Asia Argento as the whore. The soundtrack was pretty neat too.

Asia Argento and Rip Torn in Marie Antoinette

After that we returned to the homestead to drink more wine and eat Chinese food. Apparently "IT'S CONFIRMED" that Chef Yan is the best Chinese chef in all of Pickering, or something like that.
We missed going to the cougar bar "The Harp and the Crown", which Erin says is full of cougars and trannies. I have never understood suburban trannie culture, but apparently Hamilton is the same way. We also missed out on big box shopping and dining (Casey's - my favourite veggie burger ever). Next time!

Hallowe'en Pictures

Tyler and Andrea

Wendy and Dan

As usual, we spent so much time getting ready that we missed the party we were going to (the Vice magazine party at the Bates and Dodds Funeral Home). We ended up just heading over to the Beaver where we ended up getting pretty loaded. Hurray for liquid cocaine shots!

There are more pictures on my photo gallery at: www.kodakgallery.com/raggedy_andrea

Tonight I am supposed to be going to an art show at a tattoo studio at King and Portland, but will probably just stay in and watch Survivor instead. These are lazy days....

Hallowe'en!

Tyler and I are dressing up as the characters from Corpse Bride. I found a perfect blue wig yesterday and tomorrow I am shopping for cheesecloth for a skirt and veil, and a white corset. Should be good!

The Emo-Goth Nerd Post

Hey Kids! It's almost time for the 3D remake of the Nightmare Before Christmas, out soon....should be fun stuff!

Also, I have resisted the lure of My Chemical Romance for long enough...I really like the new video for Welcome to the Black Parade starring Lukas Haas from Brick! Watch it here on youtube, or else on muchmusic at least once an hour.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MCTq6p-fhvw

Finally, there is a new sushi restaurant at Yonge and Bloor called Sushi Train that I am looking forward to checking out. The idea is that you choose from many small plates that are moving past you on a conveyer belt. Perfect for low-attention-span me.

Building Demo at Yonge and Adelaide

Ok, I just thought that was sort of neat - it looks like it's been bombed. This is the former parking garage building west of Yonge on the north side of Adelaide.

So, as you can see, there hasn't been much going on to blog about lately. I was out at the Beaver on Friday night, hanging with the 22 year old hipster set. The Beaver is the new Parkdale hot-spot owned by
Will Munro (of Vazaleen fame) and others. Of course I spent most of the evening freezing on the patio.

I just bought the dvd set of
Arrested Development - my favourite tv sitcom ever! You must watch this show - it's awesome!! Also, pre-purchased the first season of Beverly Hills 90210 which should arrive in early-November, hurray!

Finally, the movie
Running With Scissors is out this week in Toronto, next week elsewhere. I have high hopes for this. It looks sort of like The Royal Tenenbaums - one of my favourites.

And that's all I have to report for now, hopefully my life will become a little more interesting soon.

Kate Moss Agent Provocateur Ads, etc.

This week on Fashion Television I learned that Kate Moss is starring in a series of ad spots for Agent Provocateur directed by Mike Figgis.

I would have expected these to be cooler than they actually are, but unfortunately, they kind of remind me of a cross between the Paris Hilton night-vision sex tape and The Blair Witch Project.
Anyways, I'm sure they will be hugely popular regardless.

After being so completely impressed by the Islands' show at the Opera House last Thursday, I spent Saturday afternoon looking around the web for Islands' related stuff, which was difficult. I did find a neat little spot called the Secret Unicorns Forum where they have some decent pictures and a lot of good bootlegs of various concerts. I downloaded a Swedish show and spent the rest of the weekend listening to it. Fun stuff.

Islands Show at the Opera House

Last night I went to see the band Islands at the Opera House. The show was AMAZING with one exception: the band Malajube was supposed to be opening but they cancelled at the last minute. Boo on them!

Now normally I am not fond of bands with too many people on stage (ie. more than four), but this time it totally worked. Amazing, amazing, amazing....this show renewed my love of rock shows.

A New Tool for Online Narcissists

Ok, check this out: http://www.myheritage.com/ where you can "Find the Celebrity In You"

Here is what I came up with (forgive the hideous photo of me pre-hair colour, but it is one of the few recent, large, and forward facing pictures I have of myself)...

Very flattering!!

Trade Mark Artists

I have been helping my roommate Tyler with his new business, Trade Mark Artists, and we finally got the new web site up and running: http://www.trademarkartists.ca/
Trade Mark Artists is an agency representing hair stylists, make up artists, and clothing stylists. The goal is to create "alternative" images for print, video, etc. There is already a pretty good portfolio online. Have a look, and let me know what you think!

Some Politics...

I was going to try to keep this blog politics free, but I just read about a fascinating woman named Malalai Joya. She is a 28 year old Member of Parliament in the Afghani government. She is a crusader for women's rights and has criticized the presence of warlords and Taliban in the current Afghani government. She was recently in Canada speaking out against the US supported government in Afghanistan, claiming that the government is "still in the chains of terrorist fundamentalists" both pro and anti US. A transcript of her speech to the NDP convention is located here: http://www.ndp.ca/node/4329
Of course there have been many death threats against her, and she has to travel in the company of armed guards.

Wow, I've Really Been Letting This Slide...

...but give me a break! This was my birthday week - starting on my actual birthday, September 11th - the day of the year with arguably the most depressing television. This amounted to three days in a row of varying degrees of debauchery, with Tuesday being the pinnacle. I certainly do not remember going to bed that night.

On Wendesday I started my Macromedia course at Ryerson, so hopefully soon I will be a Flash expert. I am trying to come up with an idea for a short South Park-esque cartoon to work on as my class project. One bonus of being a "student" is that I can purchase the Macromedia Studio for $199- (as opposed to the regular price of $999+).

After school I headed over to Jimi & Robert's new house on Palmerston. The house is absolutely gorgeous and has renewed my desire to make piles of money! They gave me season 1 of Da Ali G Show which I started watching last night. Hilarious.

Because of all this debauchery and school, I missed the last two Rockstar Supernova shows. Doh. I did get several accounts from my friends who do watch the show, so I think I got the gist of it. And my pick to win, Lukas Rossi, won, so I felt smug and all knowing.

And finally, I started watching Survivor last night. This is the one where the teams are divided by race. It was sorta boring, to be honest. Maybe I can finally free myself of obsessive Thursday night Survivor watching. But probably not this season.

Some Updates

Last night I went out for a fabulous Croatian seafood dinner at Josos . It was pricey, but really awesome food/service and a great place, decorated with lots of interesting art...and boob sculptures.
Because of the lateness of my dinner I missed Rockstar Supernova, so I'm gonna have to try to catch up tonight!
My long weekend was pretty low key. There was one drunken night at a house party, but for the most part I stayed around home, ate a lot, and watched dvds.

I finally got to see the Gus Van Sant film Last Days. This was loosely based on the last days of Kurt Cobain's life, but really more about an artist at the tail end of a complete mental breakdown. At first I thought it was going to be too arty and pretentious (there was hardly any dialogue), but after about 15 minutes I opened up to it and it was actually pretty good. One of the stars was Lukas Haas who I thought was really great as The Pin in the movie Brick. Also, Harmony Korine (who wrote the movie Kids, and wrote/directed Gummo) also turned up in a small part as the sleazey drug dealer.

Coupe Bizzarre - New Do

Yesterday I went into Coupe Bizzarre to see Jimi Imij for part one of my new 'do. I ended up with a very short, choppy mod-ish cut that I really like. Honestly, the less hair I have, the better, since I am so useless at styling it. Tonight I am going to see Robert about some new colour. Right now I have the most natural hair that I have had in about 20 years! Seriously, my hair is pretty much all dark brown. They were playing the new Peaches while I was there and I really liked it. I found out that a Peaches song is featured in a Gap commercial ...crazyness!
I'm not sure what's going on this weekend. Tyler and I have a homeless boy staying with us for the next few days which is fun. I have Monday off - hurray!!
I just heard on the radio that the next Survivor is going to have the teams divided by race. Also, Carolyn from the Apprentice has been canned by the Trump Organization "for excessive self-promotion". I will miss her saying "It was a no-brainer." everytime Trump fires someone!!

My Heart is Like a Marching Band...

I think I have decided to skip the Virgin Festival. In theory it sounds pretty awesome, but in practice it will probably either be too hot or too cold, raining, crowded, difficult to navigate, and hard to actually see any of the bands. Maybe I am just too old for rock festivals. Also, the main reason that I am going is to see the Strokes, who I have already seen twice in nice small venues.

I am a big fan of the new Outkast song
"Morris Brown" even though it/all of Idlewild seems to be getting crappy reviews. Maybe it's just because I love marching bands...who knows? I also just saw the new(?) Lloyd Banks f. 50 Cent video for "Hands Up" which is so bad that it's good (not unlike 50 Cent's Candy Shop which turned into my favourite song of the moment a year or so ago).

I just downloaded some good but old stuff, so I may have a new favourite band soon.

Friday Afternoon Stuck at Work...

...and too braindead to actually do or write anything after a night of Jager and strip poker, but here are some interesting/fun (to me) things:

This photo was called "Pete Doherty Punch Nurse" by whoever originally posted it, which I think says it all.

I am seriously considering day 2 of the Virgin Festival on Toronto Island. I can't resist the Strokes. Here's a pic from the Toronto show earlier this summer:

Malajube is opening for Islands at the Opera House - yay!

Did I mention Jager and strip poker? Yarg.

Kate Moss & Dirty Pretty Things

How much do I love the September 2006 Kate Moss Vanity Fair cover? Now I need a white fur hat.

In other not-really-related news, Dirty Pretty Things were on Letterman last night and were very good. Of course it doesn't look like they will be playing in Toronto anytime soon. I did just get tickets for Islands at the Opera House at the end of September.

White Squirrel & Lord of the Rings

At the risk of turning into my parents entirely, I am going to post a couple of pictures of the white squirrel in their backyard. I will say no more on that subject...

I went to see the Lord of the Rings musical on Thursday. It was pretty good - about a 6/10. Like the movies, the second and third acts were way better than the first act. The staging and sets were amazing, and the Gollem character was really cool. Unfortunately, parts of it were boring and dragged on, and sometimes the lighting was a bit dark and shadowy and it was hard to tell apart certain characters. The show was over three hours long.

The rest of my weekend was ok. The usual wine-drinking antics on Friday night, a quiet Saturday, and then a visit to my brother's farm on Sunday. Yes, my brother has a farm...

Fire On Queen Street West

There was a fire on Queen Street West yesterday, about a block away from my apartment. Smoke was billowing out of the second and third floor windows above Kallinikos Furs at around 6 o'clock. Fire trucks arrived a few minutes later, they broke through the glass door and also used ladders to get up on the roof of the building.

The fire seemed to be out by about 6:20 but there was still a ton of smoke. Then the firemen had to use a chainsaw to saw into every attic of the buildings west of the fire.

And by about 6:45 most of the drama was over. There were still firetrucks, ambulances, and police there until much later, but nothing much else to see.

In other news, I am going to see the Lord of the Rings musical tonight so I will write a little review of that soon.

Pingu Dance featuring David Hasselhoff

Pingu! Pingu!
About a year ago I used to watch Pingu every morning after Spongebob Squarepants. Pingu, if you aren't familiar with it, is a 5 minute long Swiss claymation cartoon about penguins.
I got really into it at the time and wanted an mp3 of the Pingu theme song ("ping ping ping ping, ping ping ping ping, pingu! pingu!"). One boring and probably hungover afternoon I ended up trolling around the net looking for the Pingu theme mp3 and discovered this: the Pingu Dance by David Hasselhoff You can download it at that link and it's totally worth it! This is David Hasselhoff rapping over the Pingu theme song. It's wicked!!

Andy Warhol Exhibit

I went to see the Andy Warhol Exhibit yesterday and it was really good. There were lots of interesting pieces that I hadn't seen before including one called "1947 White" which was a repeating silk-screen of a woman who had jumped off of the Empire State Building and landed on top of a limousine, her body imprinted on the roof of the car. The best images were definitely the disaster images, but the whole exhibit tied together the theme of the connection between celebrity and disaster. We were given an audio commentary by David Cronenberg, with clips from Dennis Hopper, and other Factory regulars. Pretty cool.

Otherwise, this weekend was a bit of a wash out - I'm not complaining, I kinda needed a break.

Andy Warhol Supernova & Rockstar Supernova

Tomorrow afternoon I am supposed to be going to the AGO for the Andy Warhol Supernova Exhibition . While I am not a huge Warhol fan, this exhibit is guest-curated by David Cronenberg and subtitled "Stars, Deaths and Disasters, 1962–1964" which sounds promisingly disturbing. I will report back on that next week.

And speaking of Supernova, has anyone else been watching
Rockstar Supernova (or what I call "Old Rockstar") this summer? This was not something I wanted to get into, at all, but somehow it happened. What this means is that I have to devote 2 1/2 hours a week to watching rockstar karaoke and the reality show drama that goes along with it.

Things I have learned from Rockstar Supernova

1. The importance of the words "rock" and "bring it" when auditioning to be a rockstar. As in, the crowd will go wild any time one of the contestants ("rockers") says "I'm going to bring it. Rock." Tommy Lee will also nod enthusiastically with approval.
2. Gilby Clarke wears a lot of makeup. As in, he is orange, dark orange. Some may say Oompa Loompan.
3. Rockstars wear their belt with the buckle on the side. Also, crowd surfing is a surefire way to bring the rock.
4. Rockstars have to hold the microphone up to their mouth like this, otherwise you are not rock:

I'm assuming that we can expect a rock-fuelled hook-up between Dave Navarro and Brooke Burke anytime now. "You rock, baby", "No, you rock, sweetie"...

A Rainy Saturday Afternoon

This weekend is looking lamer and lamer. Last night I stayed home and watched the TBS movie Something's Gotta Give . I knew it would be bad but I am a sucker for Jack Nicholson and Diane Keaton, and even Keanu Reeves wasn't too bad. Tonight was supposed to be a drinks on a patio sort of night, but it doesn't look like that's going to happen, thanks to the weather.

Now magazine had a travel article this week about Mauritius. Look at this cool picture of giant water lily pads - they can be up to 2 feet across. Pretty wild.

I'm at work now, but in a lazy mood. I am looking at taking a short trip to Montreal sometime this summer, so I'm looking around for cheap hotels, etc. Ok, just had a look at VIA and it is cheaper to travel to New York by train than Montreal....Time to rethink my plans.

I will report back when I have something a little more interesting to say.

Later.

Secret Nerd Club - The Johnny Weir Post

Ok, there is nothing cool about this post but I have decided to tell you about the subject of my recent Internet stalking: figure skater Johnny Weir, who I discovered (get this) while watching the Kathy Griffin show the other night.

Here's what Gawker had to say:

We Wish We Knew How to Quit You, Johnny Weir
Is there anyone better to represent America than figure skater Johnny Weir? We think not. The man describes himself as "princessy," applies self-tanner before performances, compares the competition to a "shot-of-vodka-and-a-snort-of-coke kind of thing," and skates wearing a single red glove named "Camille." Hell, his home club is the Skating Club of New York, which is based out of Chelsea piers. As far as we're concerned, Weir's got enough fagulous pluses in his column to make him an honorary New Yorker....Seriously, you can't help but love the crap out of Johnny Weir. Unless, of course, you're completely homophobic.

So, there you have it. Have a look at his site http://www.figureskatersonline.com/johnnyweir/ including a journal, pictures, and many, many Christina Aguilera references. You won't be disappointed.

Night at the Mod Club

So, I'm sure everyone will disagree, but I thought that Bonde do Role were fantastic - a party in a box. How can you not like two 18 year old Brazillians rapping over an AC/DC mashup? Come on!

CSS didn't really do it for me. Yay, another girl group doing indie rock - revolutionary.

I have some super crappy pictures of blurry shapes on a stage that I will post later. I tried to get closer but the place was full of steakheads, as usual.

Anyhow, back to work.

Over and out.

Friday, July 14, 2006

Another Friday Night in Toronto...

...and tonight Ryan and I are going to the Mod Club Theatre to check out CSS, Bonde do Role and Diplo. I have only heard one song by CSS - Let's Make Love and listen to Death From Above - and don't know too much else about them, except that they are from Brazil and have a le Tigre thing going on. Diplo is the producer responsible for the M.I.A. album.

This week I picked up the new Malajube album "Trompe l'oeil". It is pretty good, but the recording quality isn't great - it's an indie and they were probably on a limited budget. Even better, I got the Islands cd "Lost at Sea" which I love! They seem to be on tour all summer in Europe, but hopefully will hit Toronto at some point this fall.

The rest of the weekend is wide open. It's supposed to be ridiculously hot, so I might just hide out inside with my a/c and on Sunday I might see the movie Thank you for Smoking at the Bloor.

That's about it for now. Over and out.
